About FUSE
FUSE is developing an at-home hormone analysis system and performance platform, designed specifically for female athletes. Our aim is simple: turn hormone data into personalised insight that supports training, recovery, nutrition, wellbeing and performance.
FUSE is being developed for female athletes, with a particular focus on professional and semi-professional football. Our longer-term vision is to expand into other sports and performance environments.
Women make up around half of the population, yet female athletes have long been underrepresented in sports science. One review of more than 12.5 million participants across 5,261 sport and exercise science publications found that females made up just 34% of participants, with only 6% of studies focusing exclusively on females. Much of the evidence behind sport and exercise has therefore been developed without fully accounting for female physiology. Research has called for approaches that consider the menstrual cycle, hormonal changes, pregnancy and menopause. FUSE is being built around the female athlete.
The Technology
FUSE combines hormone analysis with a digital performance platform to give athletes and performance teams personalised insight. We're developing it to make hormone analysis more accessible, and easier to act on, within the everyday performance environment.
FUSE is being developed to analyse hormones relevant to female athlete physiology and turn that data into meaningful performance insight. While the technology is in development, we're deliberately not publishing detail on our measurement methodology. Parts of our product and methodology are commercially sensitive, and we have a responsibility to protect the intellectual property behind FUSE's long-term potential. We share what we can, openly.
Hormone data is combined with relevant athlete information to build a more complete picture of each individual athlete. Over time, our vision is to use longitudinal data to develop increasingly personalised performance intelligence across female sport. Because this is health-related data, protecting it comes first. FUSE is being designed with security and privacy built in, and we are committed to handling personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Hormones regulate many processes in the body, and hormonal fluctuation is a natural part of female physiology. These changes can influence how athletes experience training, recovery and wellbeing. FUSE is exploring how greater insight into them can support a more individualised approach to performance.
It's complex, and it varies significantly between individuals. There is no single approach that works for every athlete, so FUSE is focused on helping athletes and performance teams understand the individual, not applying a one-size-fits-all model.
Cycle tracking provides useful information, but it doesn't always tell the full story of an individual's physiological changes. FUSE is exploring how hormone data can add another layer of insight for female athletes.
Beyond performance, changes in hormonal function can be associated with menstrual health, energy availability, bone health, recovery and overall wellbeing. Conditions such as Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) have highlighted how closely nutrition, energy availability, hormonal function and athletic health are connected.
Athletes & Performance
No. FUSE isn't designed to predict performance from hormones alone. Its purpose is to provide additional insight that helps athletes and performance teams better understand the individual. Informing what happens off the pitch to support performance on it.
No. FUSE is designed to support performance, not restrict it. It provides insight that helps athletes and performance teams make more informed decisions around training, recovery, nutrition and preparation off the pitch. The aim is to help athletes optimise how they train, recover and prepare, while supporting injury risk reduction. Never to take minutes away from them on the pitch.
FUSE is designed to provide insight that supports more informed decisions. It doesn't replace the expertise of coaches, sports scientists, medical professionals or the athletes themselves.
Yes. We're building a community of female athletes who want to help shape the future of female performance.
FUSE is currently in development, and our next stage is pilot deployment.
Clubs, Research & Partnerships
Yes. We're actively building relationships with clubs and performance organisations as we move towards pilot deployment. Please Contact Us.
We're interested in working with organisations across elite and semi-professional sport, clubs and governing bodies, sports science and performance, research and academia, health and technology, investors, and strategic and commercial partnerships. We're open to partnerships that can accelerate product development, pilot deployment, research, commercialisation and the wider adoption of female-focused performance technology. Contact Us to partner.
Yes. FUSE is supported by a multidisciplinary team spanning elite sport, biomedical science, exercise physiology, engineering and business strategy, and we're continuing to build relationships with researchers and scientific partners. If you're working in this space, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch.
